New Cantonal Allowance for Daycare Costs Starting August 2026
Starting in August 2026, the Canton of Zug will contribute 33 percent of childcare costs for children attending approved KiTas, regardless of household income.
Starting 1 August 2026, the Canton of Zug will contribute a cantonal allowance covering 33 percent of childcare costs for children attending approved daycare centres. This support is independent of household income and will continue to complement the existing municipal childcare vouchers.
Who is eligible?
Parents or legal guardians are entitled to receive the cantonal allowance if: • the child lives in the Canton of Zug • the child is older than three months • the child attends an approved daycare centre such as KiTa Little Home • the parents are employed or enrolled in a state‑regulated education or training programme
How much is the allowance? The canton covers 33 percent of the average childcare fees. The exact annual lump‑sum amounts are determined each year in the first quarter.
How is the allowance paid out? The cantonal allowance is paid directly to the parents or legal guardians.
How do you apply?
Applications will be submitted through a digital platform that the canton will launch several weeks before 1 August 2026.
